In April, David visited the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole to attend the Analytical and Quantitative Light Microscopy course (AQLM), supported by a grant from Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds. The course provided an intense and comprehensive examination of field of light microscopy, from the principles of image formation, through the revolution brought by fluorescence microscopy, right through to techniques including FRET, FLIM and modern super resolution techniques. The insights and connections made on the course have, and will continue to be, incredibly useful for his project investigating the role of ROS in mitotic progression using ratiometric biosensing, and his passion for quantitative microscopy and image analysis.
